Hoot, Hoot

I'm an owl fanatic so when I saw this project in a Hoop-It-All class at our local quilt shop I knew I had to make it.  Thought I didn't take the class I was told it was very easy to do my own and so I gave it a go and here it is.   The colors are wintery in feeling and I'll add it to my growing Owl collection.

So you see it's not just another pretty face, it's actually a great needlework holder!

Secret Santa

I received the most delightful surprise while at my monthly quilting group this past Friday, a gift from Santa.

I was absolutely taken by surprise but what an amazing surprise that touched my heart beyond what words can express.  To know that someone or some people cared enough about me to go to all this trouble is amazing.

Here is my initial reaction and I'll tell you it only gets better but I'll not embarrass myself any further with the stunned look I had on my face the whole time I was opening this wonderful bag of gifts.
It's chock a block full of Christmas treasures and I can't wait to show them all to you!
So here they are in all their Christmas glory, waiting for December 25th to be enjoyed.  Well, OK we did enjoy some cookies that night but I'm waiting for my oldest son to arrive next week for the holidays and then I'll definitely start enjoying my Secret Santa Surprise!

Time is slipping by

The days are just flying by and before you know it will be our last Quilt Club for this year so I thought I should post pictures from last month.

Hope you enjoyed what some of our local quilters have to offer.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends, may your day be filled with love from Family and Friends with an abundant Thanksgiving meal!

Grounded

As my husband said I'm grounded, due to a sneaky spider bite.  I've been trying to nurse my arm by myself but after a week and a trip to a walk-in clinic because I couldn't get in to see my family Dr. I was pretty concerned because it was getting so much worse.  So off we go to VGH Emergency and I must say I was impressed on how we were looked after, thanks BC HEALTHCARE.  They lanced it and so I'll be off of cooking and cleaning duty...shucks!  That also means no quilting for awhile which is the real sad part because I've been trying to get my son's Christmas quilt done but he'll understand.
I've joined Audible.com so that'll get a workout and I suppose some of my favourite television programs but most of I'll catch up on all my favourite bloggers.

Look what I found

Some fun things that made their way home with me...
As you can see one of my purchases is an ArtBin product and the following pictures are of another ArtBin I previously bought through an online store called Hamels Fabric and Quilting.  Hamels are based in Chilliwack, BC and ship world wide so have fun browsing their website if you haven't already.

I just love ARTBIN products, they have the most amazing storage ideas.  Please checkout their site and I know you'll find more than one storage idea that you'll want to come home with you too!

Christmas Quilting

Yes, it's time to think of Christmas quilting.  I've started on a quilt for my oldest son and with having the fabric already I was busy yesterday cutting and excited to start piecing it today.
Here I'm auditioning fabrics for the sashing and I think the swirl is the one I'll go with instead of the black which seemed to have a brown tint to it, so black isn't always black!

I love my Gerbera Daisies so snapped a picture of them adding more color to my sewing room.
Here are few snaps from my walk a couple of days ago along my usual walking route that is just minutes
away from where I live.
I hope you can squeeze in some quilty fun into your Monday so craft on!
